Email is where promises get confirmed in writing. Connecting Gmail lets your Brain read your mailbox and link what it finds to the people, companies and projects it already knows.

What it adds to your Brain

Fivo reads the messages in your Gmail mailbox and groups them by thread, so a conversation becomes one episode with its context. From each thread it extracts the people involved, what was agreed, what is pending and the dates attached.

Not everything is worth reading. Fivo skips spam, trash and drafts, leaves out Gmail's Promotions and Social categories, and recognises newsletters, mailing lists and automated no-reply senders so they do not become facts. Quoted replies and signatures are stripped. Each fact keeps a link back to the original message in Gmail.

Before you start

You need the Google account whose mailbox you want to connect. Any Fivo member can connect their own Gmail; there is no scope to choose because email is always personal.

When you click Connect, Google asks you to approve what Fivo requests. In plain words:

  • Know who you are and your email address.
  • Read your email messages and settings. Fivo cannot send, delete or modify mail.

Google shows a consent screen with checkboxes. Make sure the permission to read mail is ticked, otherwise the connection completes but Fivo has nothing to read.

Step by step

  1. Open Integrations in app.fivo.ai and find Gmail under Email.
  2. Click Connect. Google's sign-in page opens.
  3. Choose the Google account and allow the request. You are sent back to Fivo.
  4. There is nothing to pick: your mailbox is the source, and Fivo fills in its address for you.

What happens next

Fivo reads your recent history first, page by page, and then keeps reading new messages on a regular schedule. Gmail does not push changes to Fivo, so a new email appears in the graph after the next read rather than instantly. The AI Brain view shows the mailbox moving from queued to reading to done.

Who sees what: only you. Inside the organization graph you still benefit from your email: when you ask a question, Fivo combines the shared graph with your personal one, so your own facts appear next to the team's. See Permissions: what your Brain can see.

Disconnect

Open Integrations, select Gmail and click Disconnect. Fivo removes the stored credentials and stops reading your mailbox. You can also revoke Fivo's access from your Google account's security settings; Fivo then marks the source as needing to be reconnected.

Troubleshooting

  • The connection succeeded but nothing is read. The read-mail permission was not granted on Google's consent screen. Click Reconnect and tick it.
  • The source says it needs to be reconnected. Google expired or revoked the token, for example after a password change. Reconnect from Integrations.
  • A message I expected is not in the graph. It may be in Promotions or Social, come from a mailing list or automated sender, or sit outside the reading window.
  • I connected the wrong Google account. Disconnect, then connect again and pick the right account on Google's account chooser.
