Slack is where most teams decide things in passing. Connecting it gives your Brain the channels where that happens, and gives Slack a place to receive your meeting reports.

What it adds to your Brain

Fivo reads the channels you pick and turns their history into facts: decisions and who took them, commitments made in a thread, people and the projects they talk about. Messages are grouped so that a thread becomes one episode with its context rather than a pile of isolated lines, and a reply stays attached to the thread it answers.

Only what people wrote counts. Messages from bots and from deactivated accounts are skipped. Mentions are resolved to real names, so "@ana will ship it Friday" is read as a commitment by Ana, not by a user id.

In the other direction, Slack can receive your meeting reports: once a channel is chosen, Fivo can post the report there as soon as a meeting ends.

Before you start

You need a Slack account in the workspace you want to connect. Slack decides whether you are allowed to install an app in that workspace; if your workspace restricts app installs, an admin has to approve it.

Only the organization owner or an Admin can bring Slack in with organization scope. See Connect your tools for how scope works.

When you click Connect, Slack asks you to approve what Fivo requests. In plain words:

  • See the list of public and private channels, and read their message history.
  • Join public channels, so Fivo can read a channel you pick without someone inviting it.
  • See people in the workspace and their email addresses, to attribute messages to the right person.
  • Post messages, to deliver meeting reports to the channel you choose.

Fivo never writes to Slack other than posting the reports you set up.

Step by step

  1. Open Integrations in app.fivo.ai and find Slack under Messaging.
  2. Click Connect. Slack's authorization page opens in your browser.
  3. Check the workspace shown at the top of Slack's page, then allow the request. You are sent back to Fivo, which confirms that the connection between Fivo and Slack was successful.
  4. Pick the channels that feed your graph. Fivo lists every active public channel in the workspace, plus the private channels the Fivo bot has already been invited to.
  5. If you also want reports in Slack, choose the channel where reports will be posted and turn on instant report delivery for your own meetings, for meetings you are invited to, or both.

What happens next

Fivo starts reading the history of the channels you picked, newest first, and follows each thread to collect its replies. Slack limits how fast an app can read history, so a busy channel with many threads takes a while to finish. In the AI Brain view you can watch each channel move from queued to reading to done.

From then on, new messages, edits and deletions arrive as they happen through Slack's events, and Fivo also re-reads channels on a regular schedule so nothing is missed.

Who sees what: with organization scope, a channel's facts are visible to the channel's members, which Slack reports to Fivo. Someone who joins the channel later sees its facts; someone who leaves stops seeing them. With personal scope, only you see them. See Permissions: what your Brain can see.

Disconnect

Open Integrations, select Slack and click Disconnect. Fivo removes the stored credentials and stops reading the workspace and posting reports. To stop reading a single channel while keeping the rest, use Remove from graph on that source in the AI Brain view.

Troubleshooting

  • A private channel is missing from the list. The Fivo bot is not in it. Invite it from Slack and the channel appears the next time the list is refreshed.
  • A channel is marked as a source Fivo cannot access. The bot was removed from the channel, or the channel was deleted. Invite the bot again or remove the source.
  • Slack says Fivo needs to be reconnected. The workspace token was revoked, or the app was removed from the workspace. Click Reconnect in Integrations.
  • Reports are not reaching Slack. Check that a channel is chosen and that instant report delivery is on for the kind of meeting (yours or invited) you expected.
