Communities and many product teams live in Discord. Connecting a server lets your Brain read the channels where support questions, feature requests and decisions pile up.

What it adds to your Brain

Fivo reads the text and announcement channels you choose from the servers where you installed the Fivo bot. Each message that a person wrote becomes part of the channel's history in the graph: who said what, when, and whom they mentioned. Messages from other bots are ignored.

Discord material is grouped by channel and time, so a day of discussion becomes a few facts with context. People are identified by their Discord account, with their display name and, when Discord shares it, their email, so they can be matched with the same person elsewhere in your graph.

Before you start

You need a Discord account with permission to add apps to the server you want to connect. In Discord, that is the Manage Server permission; if you do not have it, ask the server owner.

Only the organization owner or an Admin can connect Discord with organization scope. Connecting a server you only take part in, with personal scope, is fine too.

When you click Connect, Discord asks you to approve two things:

  • Who you are and your email, so Fivo knows which account connected.
  • Adding the Fivo bot to one server, with permission to view channels and read message history. The bot asks for nothing else: it cannot post, manage roles or change the server.

Step by step

  1. Open Integrations in app.fivo.ai and find Discord under Messaging.
  2. Click Connect. Discord's authorization page opens.
  3. Choose the server where the bot should be added, review the permissions and authorize. Discord sends you back to Fivo.
  4. Pick the Server and then the Channel or channels that feed your graph. Fivo lists only the text and announcement channels the bot is allowed to read in that server.
  5. Repeat Connect to add another server. Each install grants one server, and reconnecting with the same Discord account keeps the servers you granted before.

What happens next

Fivo reads each chosen channel from the start of its reading window forward until it reaches the present. You can follow progress per channel in the AI Brain view.

Discord does not push changes to Fivo, so new messages arrive when Fivo re-reads the channel on its regular schedule rather than live.

Who sees what: Discord cannot tell Fivo who is allowed to read a channel. Material brought in with organization scope is visible to the organization owner and to the people who took part in the conversation. With personal scope, only you see it. See Permissions: what your Brain can see.

Disconnect

Open Integrations, select Discord and click Disconnect. Fivo removes the stored credentials and stops reading. Removing the Fivo bot from the server in Discord has the same effect on that server: Fivo marks its channels as sources it cannot access. To stop reading one channel only, use Remove from graph on it in the AI Brain view.

Troubleshooting

  • The server is not in the list. The bot was removed from it, or the install was done with a different Discord account. Connect again from that server.
  • Only some channels appear. Fivo lists text and announcement channels only, and only those the bot can read. Voice, forum and stage channels are not read.
  • A channel shows as a source Fivo cannot access. The bot lost permission to view it or to read its history. Fix the channel's permission overrides for the bot's role.
  • Messages from a person are missing. If the account is a bot, its messages are not read on purpose.
