Linear is where product teams keep their issues tidy. Fivo reads the teams you choose, creates issues from your meetings and hears about every change through webhooks.
What it adds to your Brain
For each team you choose, Fivo reads its issues: title, description, state, assignee, priority, due date and labels, plus every comment on each issue with its author.
Fivo also writes. A meeting report can be created as a Linear issue in the team you chose, with the report as its description. Action items can be created as issues with their description. When an issue Fivo created changes state, due date or assignee, gets a comment or is removed in Linear, the task in Fivo updates. See Tasks and commitments.
Example question your AI can then answer: "Which issues in the Platform team mention the migration, and who is assigned to them?"
Before you start
- A Linear account. Fivo asks for admin-level permission because Linear only lets admins, or apps holding that permission, create webhooks, and webhooks are how Fivo receives changes. If you are not a workspace admin, Linear may refuse the connection.
- Organization scope requires the organization owner. See Connect your tools.
Step by step
- Open Integrations in app.fivo.ai and find Linear.
- Click Connect. Linear opens its authorization page. You approve permissions to read and write in your workspace, to create issues, and the admin permission described above.
- Back in Fivo, open the integration's Configuration and choose the Team where issues will be created.
- Save.
- To feed your graph, go to the Brain view, connect Linear as a source and pick the teams to read. Fivo lists every team you reach, private ones included.
What happens next
Fivo reads each team's issues updated within the history window of the source, in small pages because Linear limits query complexity. It registers a webhook per team it reads, so new and updated issues and new comments reach your graph as they happen, and the issues Fivo created sync their status back immediately. Teams are also re-read on a regular schedule as a safety net.
Linear tells Fivo who can read a team. With organization scope, a private team's facts are visible to its members and a public team's facts to the whole workspace. See Permissions: what your Brain can see.
Disconnect
Open Integrations, select Linear and click Disconnect. Fivo removes the webhooks it created. To stop reading one team while keeping sharing, use Remove from graph in the Brain view.
Troubleshooting
- Linear refused to create a webhook. Only admins or apps with the admin permission can. If a team is refused, Fivo keeps reading it on its regular schedule instead of live.
- Reading pauses. Linear's rate limit answers inside the response rather than with an error status. Fivo recognises it, pauses briefly and continues.
- A state change did not update the task in Fivo. Fivo maps the state's name, then its type, to its statuses. Unusual custom states may not be recognised.
- Issues arrive unassigned. Fivo does not set an assignee on Linear issues; assign them in Linear and the change syncs back.
